Mother Meets Lawyers (2021)
Artistic intervention

In the frame for the exhibition Mami:Ama:Mothers (2020) at Botkyrka art gallery, I gathered about twenty law students and lawyers who wanted to practice movement law* and help mothers who, like my mother, needed to appeal their cases to the Social Insurance Agency. As part of the artwork, several lectures took place in the Botkyrka art gallery, and legal support was offered to the mothers who were each paired with a lawyer.

The work 'Mothers meet lawyers' was also a way to investigate how we can create spaces where art can move between borders and develop and expand spaces that are perceived as difficult to access and closed. The work also draws references to the artist Tania Brugera's concept "Arte util" roughly translated as Useful art. This is by asking questions about how we can transform certain aspects of society by implementing art and transcending symbolic representation by proposing some solutions for actual shortcomings in reality
